Sourced figures: prices in the table carry their source and check month. A published rate is not a quote and not our offer, and nothing here is legal advice.

One Komodo operator guide says a three-day trip can combine Kanawa or Kelor, Padar, Pink Beach, a ranger walk on Komodo, Manta Point, Kalong and Taka Makassar. Treat that as a sample. The night movement ban now fixes where a boat must sit each evening, some luxury boats publish minimums above this length, and Vela warns of added fees below its own.
What can three days and two nights cover?
The operator guide gives the most complete public list we have for this length: Kanawa or Kelor, Padar at sunrise, Pink Beach, a ranger walk on Komodo, Manta Point, Kalong at dusk and Taka Makassar. It also says each charter from Labuan Bajo begins with one and a half to two and a half hours each way to the central park sites. That operator runs its own island resort, so the timing is its view and not an official measure. Even so, it means part of day one and part of day three go to getting there and back.
We have not found that list split into days, so the table below is our own arrangement of it, drawn to show how the evening anchor shapes the trip. It is a sample for reading an offer against. It is not a published itinerary, and no boat is committed to it.
| Sample day | Daylight stops | Evening constraint |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1 | Leave Labuan Bajo, then Kanawa or Kelor | At anchor near Padar before sunset |
| Day 2 | Padar at sunrise, Pink Beach, ranger walk on Komodo | Kalong at dusk, with the night anchorage settled in advance |
| Day 3 | Manta Point, Taka Makassar | Back to Labuan Bajo while the return still falls in daylight |
Seven named places in roughly two full days is a dense plan. If you are paying for the boat as much as the sights, ask which of the seven the captain would actually run at your group's pace. A family with small children and a pair of hikers will not spend the same time on the same ridge.
Check too how the offer counts its days. Three days and two nights can mean a morning departure and an afternoon return, or something tighter, so ask for the hours. A boarding that follows a flight takes visible time from the first day, so put your arrival time in your first message.
How does the night movement ban change the route?
It moves the planning from the morning to the evening before. Antara reports that the Labuan Bajo harbourmaster barred boat movement at night in park waters, and the operator guide says older plans that crossed to Padar overnight for sunrise no longer work. For a short trip this has a direct cost: the first afternoon now ends with a deadline, because the boat has to be near Padar before the light goes.
The same logic applies on the second evening. A stop at Kalong at dusk leaves little room to reposition afterwards, so ask where the boat will spend that night. The full reading of the rule, including the waters named and the reasons reported for it, is on our page about the night movement ban and routing.
Do luxury boats offer a trip this short?
Some publish longer minimums, and the sources point in different directions. The operator guide calls three days and two nights the most popular length, but its scope covers all classes of boat. At the top of the market the position changes.
| Source | What it says about length | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Operator guide | Three days two nights most popular; two days one night the shortest overnight charter most boats offer | All classes |
| Asik Travel | Publishes private tiers for 2 days 1 night and 3 days 2 nights | Standard-tier boat |
| Barefoot Yachts | Recommends a minimum of 3 nights for Komodo | Its charter range, as advice |
| Vela | Minimum of 4 nights in Komodo; shorter trips may carry additional fees; most popular Komodo charter is 5 days 4 nights | One boat |
| Ultimate Indonesian Yachts | Minimum 4-night charters in Komodo | Its listed yachts |
| Phinisi 50 listing | Minimum charter of 7 days | One boat |
So a route of this length may be easy to find on a mid-size boat and unavailable or surcharged on the largest ones. Do not estimate the cost by taking two nights of a nightly rate from a boat with a four-night minimum, because that trip may not exist at that figure. Our page on minimum nights in Komodo goes further into how those rules read.
The price table on this page reflects that split. It carries a standard-tier private charter for this length, a whole-boat range for a deluxe phinisi from the operator guide, and the foreign-visitor park ticket, which Kompas reports per person per day under Government Regulation 36/2024. Asik's standard-tier figure also sits inside the guide's deluxe range, a mismatch neither source explains, so read both at source. None of those is a luxury-class rate, so use the published rates by boat for that comparison and ask for a figure on your actual dates.
The two boat figures in that table are built on whole-boat bases for stated group sizes, so a small party divides them across fewer people and a large one may pay for extra guests. Asik Travel itself advises comparing total boat prices with per-person cabin rates carefully and requesting a quote for the actual group. That advice carries over to any short trip. Two couples and a family of eight will read the same whole-boat figure very differently, and a short charter has fewer days across which to spread it. The luxury phinisi Labuan Bajo overview shows the published minimum stay for Vela and Phinisi 50 beside their other terms.

What decides the final order of stops?
Four things, roughly in this order, and you control only the last.
- Sailing clearance. Detik quotes the harbourmaster saying clearance rests on the seaworthiness of the vessel and on the weather. Without it, the boat stays put.
- The evening anchorage. Each night has to be reached before dark, so the anchor point drives what fits before it.
- Sea conditions on the day. Wind, swell and current can turn a planned leg into a poor one. The authority for that call belongs on board, not with the booking.
- Your group. Hikers, snorkellers, divers and young children each pull the day a different way. Say early what your group would give up first.
A useful test of any route you are sent is whether the operator has written the night stops as well as the day stops. A plan that lists highlights but no anchorages leaves the hardest question unanswered. The page on which islands sources name shows how differently those highlights get described.
What does a fourth day add to this route?
On one published plan, a slower second day and two more stops. Phinisi Trip prints leisure itineraries of both lengths. Its three-day plan covers Kelor, Manjarite and Kalong on day one, then Padar, Pink Beach, Komodo, Taka Makassar and Manta Point on day two, and Kanawa before the return on day three. Its four-day plan cuts day two from five stops to three, moves Taka Makassar and Manta Point to day three, and adds Siaba and Sebayur. The seller says each plan may change with the weather, and its boats span several classes, so treat this as a template. On a boat with a four-night minimum, ask for that boat's own plan: Vela's FAQ calls 5D/4N its most popular Komodo charter.
Which stop might drop out, and why?
Nobody can tell you in advance, but you can see which stops are exposed. Padar and Komodo are not protected by being famous: Kompas dates a restriction on sailing to both islands from 6 to 10 August 2026, in the dry months. A longer trip has room to absorb a closure of that kind. On a two-night trip it may take the core of the route with it.
Kelor is worth a specific question. The operator guide offers it as an option in its sample and also names it among the hazard areas, alongside the Padar Strait. We read that as a matter of timing and conditions and not as a reason to avoid it, but ask what time the boat plans to leave. Short days also favour whichever stop lies closest to the night anchorage, so a stop that needs a long detour is the likely casualty.
A stop name is not a sighting either. A ranger walk does not promise a dragon, Manta Point does not promise a manta, and Kalong does not promise a sky full of flying foxes. Ask for the place, accept that the animals keep their own schedule, and ask what the boat does instead if a stop is lost: whether another is substituted, and whether the offer says anything about the price.
Which published prices did we check?
Operator rate pages, agent listings and park fees, each with its source and the month we checked it. A "from" rate is a starting figure, not a quote and not our offer. Tax, season and dates change the total, so check the source before you rely on a figure.

What do readers ask about this route?
Can a luxury phinisi reach Padar, Komodo and Pink Beach in three days?
Yes, on paper. One operator guide lists all three in a three-day sample from Labuan Bajo. Whether your boat runs them depends on its anchorages, the conditions that week and whether it offers this length.
Is a sunrise at Padar still possible on a short trip?
Yes, if the boat is already anchored near Padar before sunset the evening before, as the operator guide describes. An overnight crossing to arrive for sunrise no longer works, so check that the first day of your plan ends there.
Does every luxury phinisi sell a three-day trip?
Not on published terms. Vela and the yachts listed by Ultimate Indonesian Yachts state four-night minimums in Komodo, with Vela warning of added fees below its own, and the Phinisi 50 listing states seven days. Barefoot Yachts recommends three nights as its minimum, so ask before you build a plan around two.
How do two-day, three-day and longer trips compare?
The operator guide calls two days one night the shortest overnight charter most boats offer and three days two nights the most popular. Vela names five days four nights as its most popular Komodo charter. Longer trips leave more slack when a stop is lost to weather.
Should I work out the cost from a nightly rate?
No. A nightly rate from a boat with a four-night minimum does not describe a two-night trip, and Vela says shorter trips may carry additional fees. Ask for a figure on your actual dates and guest count.
